Years When EQS Efficiency Changed
Most years look a lot like the one before. These are the years where the EPA numbers moved in a way that matters if you're shopping for a used EQS.
- 2027: The best combined rating jumps from 98 to 114 MPGe.
How the EQS Compares
The EPA rated 5 electric large cars for 2026. The best EQS version, at 98 MPGe combined, ranks 3rd of 5. Combined ratings in the class run from 88 to 146 MPGe, with a median of 98.
| Rank | Model | Combined |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Lucid Air | 146 MPGe |
| 2 | Tesla Model S | 124 MPGe |
| 3 | Mercedes-Benz EQS | 98 MPGe |
| 4 | Dodge Charger | 95 MPGe |
| 5 | BMW i7 | 88 MPGe |

Pick a EQS, then enter what you pay per kWh and how much you drive. The math uses the EPA city and highway kWh per 100 miles, weighted by how much of your driving happens in each.
EQS MPGe Questions
Which EQS is the most efficient?
The 2027 EQS 500 4matic has the top EPA rating at 114 MPGe combined (112 city, 116 highway). Among 2026 models, the EQS 450 Plus is rated at 98 MPGe combined.
What's the range of the 2026 EQS?
The most efficient 2026 EQS 450 Plus is rated at 98 MPGe combined, which works out to 34 kWh per 100 miles. Its EPA range is 390 miles. Range across 2026 versions runs from 300 to 390 miles.
What does MPGe mean?
MPGe stands for miles per gallon equivalent. The EPA counts 33.7 kWh of electricity as one gallon of gasoline, so a rating of 98 MPGe means the 2026 EQS 450 Plus covers 98 miles on 33.7 kWh. kWh per 100 miles is the easier number for working out charging costs.
Why doesn't my EQS match the EPA numbers?
EPA ratings come from standardized tests so every EV is measured the same way. Cold weather, heater and AC use, highway speed, tire pressure and cargo all change how far a EQS goes on a charge. The ratings are best for comparing one model against another.

Where These Numbers Come From
Every figure on this page comes from the U.S. EPA fuel economy dataset on fueleconomy.gov, pulled together by Cedrick Reese. The file lists 34 ratings for the Mercedes-Benz EQS from 2022 to 2027. Each row in the table links to the matching EPA vehicle record, so you can check any figure against the source. Electric versions are rated in MPGe, the EPA's miles-per-gallon equivalent, and the table also shows their official range. When the EPA posts an updated file with new model years or corrected ratings, this page is rebuilt from it. The cost calculator uses your electricity rate you enter rather than a national average, so the result fits where you live.
Ratings on this page come from the EPA file downloaded on October 1, 2026.
